OCRID Mentor, Dr. Tyrrell Conway Leads New Microbiome Research Center at OSU

Oklahoma State University (OSU)-Stillwater receives the second NIH CoBRE grant to establish a research microbiome center. OCRID mentor, Dr. Tyrrell Conway will serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of the center. Dr. Jerry Malayer, a member of the OCRID Steering Committee, along with Dr. Mostafa Elshahed and Dr. Gerwald Koehler, will serve as Associate Directors.
Researchers at OSU regard the microbiome as the sixth essential organ, crucial for both human and animal well-being. Additionally, microbiome studies are vital for plant and environmental health; for instance, soil health and its microbiome are essential for successful crop production.
The initial set of projects includes two former OCRID pilot project leaders, Dr. Daniel Lin, and Dr. Reed Stubbendieck and one center investigator, Dr. George Huang
