OCRID Core Facilities Highlighted in OSU Fast Start Workshop Series

9/5/2025

The Oklahoma Center for Respiratory and Infectious Diseases (OCRID) joined the Fall 2025 FAST START Workshop Series to showcase the breadth of Core Research Facilities available to Oklahoma State University researchers.

The FAST START series, hosted by the OSU Library, connects faculty, postdocs, and graduate students with key resources that support research success. Designed to help researchers navigate “The Cowboy Way” of securing funding and building strong programs, the workshops bring together experts from across campus for one-hour sessions that highlight tools, services, and compliance essentials.

OCRID hosted the Core Research Facilities Panel, showcasing the cutting-edge resources it provides to support investigators across OSU and Oklahoma. Core directors from the Animal Models Core, Immunopathology Core, and Molecular Biology & Genomics Core presented an overview of their services and associated fee structures and explained how to access Core facilities and initiate Core-supported projects. The panel also offered practical guidance on incorporating core resources into grant applications and project planning. Together, these facilities not only strengthen current research efforts but also position OSU for future breakthroughs in biomedical and translational sciences.

“These core facilities are designed to accelerate discovery,” said OCRID Director Lin Liu, Ph.D., FAPS “By providing state-of-the-art equipment and expert technical support, we give faculty and trainees the tools they need to pursue innovative science and remain competitive for federal funding.”

For new and early-career researchers in particular, the panel highlighted how OCRID’s shared research infrastructure can reduce barriers, foster collaborations, and strengthen proposals for external support.
